Competition is open to any amateur photographer. Amateur is defined as one who earns no more than 50% of his/her income from the sale of their photographic prints. 2. Best of Show overall awards in each class will be awarded based on the judge’s decision. Novice and Advanced Amateur Best of Show winners will each receive one pass to the Rocky Mountain School of Photography Weekend Workshop on May 1 & 2 in Helena, Mont. 3. “Viewer’s Choice” awards will be decided based on viewers’ ballots cast Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 4. Youth division is open to those 11-17 years old as of Jan. 1, 2010. Young’ns division open to those 10 or younger. Special age-specific prizes will be available for these two divisions. 5. Entry form must accompany photographs to be entered. 6. An entry fee of $1 per photograph will be jackpotted into premiums for corresponding classes. Checks should be made to Montana Winter Fair. 7. Out of town entries: Entries and entry fees must be sent with prepaid postage to the Montana Winter Fair Office. A return address label and return postage must accompany the entry or the entry will be returned COD. Please specify if you will be picking up mailed entries in person. 8. The original exposure of the negative/image must be the work of the exhibitor. Commercial print finishing is permitted. 9. Entries that have been entered in previous years are not eligible for competition. 10. Exhibits not complying with the rules of the Montana Winter Fair will be automatically disqualified. Judges’ decisions are final. 11. Prints of nudity or those containing profanity will not be accepted. 12. Submission of prints will imply acceptance of all rules, general and specific. 13. Diligence will be taken to assure the safety and care of articles after their acceptance and placement. In no case will the Montana Winter Fair and any of its representatives be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, nor will it be held responsible for the safe return of any exhibit to its owner. 14. Release of pictures: No exhibits will be released until 5-6 p.m. on Saturday, January 30. After this time, exhibits can be picked up at the Lewistown News-Argus during regular business hours. (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) 15. The superintendent and/or judges in charge reserve the right to reject an entry deemed unworthy, is in bad taste, or to shift any entry from one class to a more appropriate one and to settle any disputes due to a situation not explicitly covered in the rules of entry. 16. The exhibitor’s name, address, phone number and entry information should be placed on the back, top right hand corner of each photo entry. 17. All prints must be affixed to cardboard or mounts. Mats are recommended for display quality. Prints with frames or glass will not be accepted. 18. Premium awards will be made by check and ready for pickup when the exhibitor picks up their entry, unless otherwise specified.
