Livestock Health Regulations Requirements: Out-of-State Animals: All out-of-state animals shall be accompanied by an import permit, veterinary inspection ceretificate and brand inspection. Import permit may be obtained by the vertinarian issuing veterinarian inspection certification within 10 days prior to arrival into Montana by calling: Department of Livestock, Animal Health Division, Helena, MT 406-444-2976.
In-State: All in-state animals callyour local veterinarian for health requirements. Brand Inspection: A brand inspection is required on all livestock originating outside Fergus County. All horses and cattle must be accompanied by a current brand inspection certificate from the state of origin to the state of destination. If you are from a state where there is no brand inspection on livestock, the veterinary inspection certificate and import permit will be sufficient. You will be issued a brand certificate from Montana to return to the stae of origin. Veterinary inspection certificates and other necessary papers must accompany the animals upon arrival on the grounds and be available for examination for the duration of the show. Health Inspections: Any animals showing clinical evidence of disease will be refused entry or required to be handled in accordance with directives of the veterinarian in charge. Animals affected with warts, ringworm or other skin conditions or unsightly blemishes will be refused entery into the expositon or removed from the grounds at the discretion of the official show veterinarian or his/her representatives. Animals which develop a disease condition during the course of the exposition are to be handled in accordance with the directive of the attending veterinarian. Cattle: Montana law requires all female cattle over four months of age must have an official brucellosis vaccination and show proof of calfhood vaccination by legible tattoo and ear tag or certificate. All female cattle of Class A origin in which the first pair of permanent incisor teeth have erupted must have a negative test to brucellosis. All bulls of Class A origin 12 months and over must have a negative test to brucellosis. Horse: All horses imported into Montana are required to have an official negative (Coggins or Elisa) test for Equine Infections Anemia within 12 months of import unless foals are with the mare.
