  • Complete the stall reservation form if you are arriving the night before the show. Beef will be stalled in the brick barn west of the pavilion. Stall check in between 5:00 and 7:00 PM on Saturday. No animals may be tied in the pavilion overnight. Contact Jennifer Saunders 366-1677 for directions or if you are running late.

  • No vehicles or trailers in the pavilion arena please. No straw or sawdust in the pavilion please. Pieces of indoor/outdoor carpet will be available to place under beef in the arena. When show is complete, carpet must be rolled and stacked on pallet. Hay/feed must be completely cleaned up. Your arena deposit will be returned after the superintendent checks your area.

  • Wash rack is not available. 

Fees:

  • $25 per animal, late fee $10 per animal
  • $25 Arena Deposit per exhibitor
  • $20 Stall fee plus $30 cleaning deposit per stall (up to 2 animals per stall)

Class 1- Youth Beef Show

Lot 1 – Feeder Steer

  • Open to all youth who are members of 4-H, FFA or Junior Cattle Breed Associations.
  • Entry fee is $25 per animal. Nonrefundable.  If an exhibitor has more than one animal in a class, additional animals must be shown by another junior exhibitor.
  • Entrees are due January 19, 2018. Late entries will be accepted with a late fee of $10.00 per entry. The late fee will be charged the day of the show.
  • Stall fees may be included with entry payment. Exhibitors must check out with Jennifer Saunders, 366-1677, to receive their cleaning refund. Stalls must be raked completely clean and hauled to designated area and alley around stall must be clean.
  • A separate check must be written to Montana Winter Fair, $25 per exhibitor, as an Arena Fee. This check will not be cashed and will be returned when the exhibitor has cleaned their area, folded and returned carpet to pallet, and has checked out with the superintendent. The check will be cashed following the fair, if these steps are not completed.
  • This show is open to any steer calf born after January 1, 2017. There will be no breed designation within the classes.
  • Steers will be split into classes according to hip height.  Hip heights will be taken by the same person and through the same chute.  Class breaks will be posted prior to the beginning of the show.  Steers must be checked in prior to 10 AM on Sunday, January 28, 2018.  
  • In addition to the jackpot money in each class, the Grand Champion Steer will receive a cash prize of $300 the Reserve Grand Champion will receive a cash prize of $200.


  Lot 2 – Heifer

  • Judging will begin immediately following the steer show.
  • This show is open to both registered and commercial heifer calves (coming yearlings) born after January 1, 2017. Registration papers will not be required for this show.
  • Heifers will be split into classes based on birth date; all breeds will show together and splits will be made so that class sizes are equal as possible.  Class breaks will be posted prior to the beginning of the show.  Heifers must be checked in prior to 10 AM on Sunday, January 28, 2018.
  • In addition to the jackpot money in each class, the Grand Champion heifer will receive a cash prize of $300; the Reserve Grand Champion heifer will receive a cash prize of $200.

Class 2- Showmanship

Lot 1- Seniors- youth ages 14 to 18

Lot 2- Intermediate- youth ages 11 to 13

Lot 3- Junior- youth ages 10 and younger
